What is the treatment like?

Is there any down time?

Are there post procedure recommendations?
Rittenhouse Laser encourages all patients to exercise at least 30-45 minutes everyday during treatments .
We recommend our clients to follow the diet provided and drink 64 ounces of water per day.
How many sessions will I need?
The manufacturer has a protocol of a minimum of 6 – 12 treatments sessions based upon each clients: body mass index , weight and personal goals. To achieve optimum results: one must follow the recommended diet and do at least 3 treatments per week for the first 2 weeks. (clients will be accommodated based on first come first serve basis.) This is the most advanced lipo laser in the country and the first of its kind in Philadelphia. We offer free consultations for clients and create a personalized program for each individual based upon their needs and goals.
What’s the difference between Liposuction and Illumiwave 635?
Illumiwave does not require the insertion of cannulas to physically remove fat with suction.
Instead, subcutaneous fat is emulsified using “cold” lasers non-invasively and does not involve bandages, sutures, or anesthesia. Unlike surgery there is no bleeding, bruising, soreness, and down-time of traditional liposuction.
Am I a good candidate?
Due to its gentle and non-invasive nature, almost everyone is eligible.
Contraindications include pregnancy, breastfeeding, lymphoma, leukemia, severe heart, liver or kidney disease.
How effective is the Illumiwave laser?
Clinical trials and our experience proved that, when we use the correct treatment regimen clients lose an average of 5″-25 “ overall in the waist, hips, and thighs or 1″-6″ in one targeted area. Patients can expect to see a difference in 6-12 sessions, and often lose a clothing size during the process. The results are long-term, when combined with a healthy diet and exercise plan.

How does the laser release fat?
When laser energy penetrates into the fat, the adipose cell walls are made permeable for a period of 42-72 hours, allowing the cell contents, (water, glycerol and free fatty acids) to leak out. The water is utilized or excreted, and free fatty acids are utilized in the body as energy or reabsorbed by other cells. The glycerol is processed through natural metabolic functions. The adipose tissue is not removed, but significantly shrinks in size, resulting in an improved sculpted body. The laser fat reduction process operates at a low level energy, only strong enough to create pores in the adipose tissue, and gentle enough not to cause bruising, bleeding or blood vessel damage.
OVERVIEW OF ADIPOSE TISSUE
Fat, or adipose tissue, can be found in several places in the body. Typically, areas in need of body contouring are different between men and women. Men typically carry excess body mass in the chest, abdomen, and buttocks. Women typically carry excess body mass at the hips, waist, and buttocks and around the breasts.
How a fat cell stores fat, and converts glucose and amino acids into fat.
When fat enters the body, (mainly triclycerides), insulin, (a hormone secreted by the pancreas), is released, due to stimulation by the presence of glucose, amino acids or fatty acids in the intestine. Insulin tells the cells various messages, including to stop breaking down fats into fatty acids and glycerol and to start building fats (triglycerides) from glycerol and fatty acids. From the blood cells, the fatty acids are absorbed into adipose cells, muscle cells and liver cells. Under the stimulation of insulin, these cells are made into fat molecules and stored as adipose.
Studies:
A lipo reduction trial conducted using illumiWave 635nm non-collimated laser diodes on male and female patients. The duration for each treatment was 20 minutes. The illumiWave 635nm was placed over the patient’s abdomen area, 3 inches from the skin, and both the patient and the laser were kept stationary for the entire duration. After each session, the patient underwent vibration therapy for 10 minutes. Patients reported to follow the diet including exercise regimen of 45 minutes, 2-3 times per week in conjunction with the laser treatments. Measurements were taken circumferentially on each patient as documented below.
